I began sewing my new take on toaster covers in March of 2019. I sold my first Toaster Huggee® in July 2019 on Etsy.com. How excited I was that my idea was validated! I’m proud to say these are handmade in the USA and I just celebrated my second year! Yippee!!

The ecommerce retail channels authorize to sell this product is Toasterhuggee.com; Amazon/Handmade; and ETSY.com.  Any other website is not authorized to sell this product. If you find it someplace else for a reduced price, beware because it is a fake product. Toaster Huggee® is a legal trademark and the patent for the Toaster Huggee® Toaster Cover is pending.

It’s fairly difficult to start a business from scratch whether just yourself, a business partner, or organization.  You spend countless hours, financial resources, blood (in theory), sweat, and tears trying to make a go of your business.

Therefore, it is especially heartbreaking when others try and steal your ideas, pretend to represent your product or author fake websites using your trademarked name!

So, please do not click on these fake websites; some of them are malware. I discovered this while investigating them myself.

Move, Move, and Move Some More

While this is not a plug for Leslie Sansome walking videos, the morning I decided to get back moving I used one of her one-mile walking videos. I committed to me as part of my continuing weight loss journey to finally add consistent movement to my life.  Although I have a gym membership, it’s been dormant for several months. I was just not motivated to get dress, drive, and then exercise?! That was asking a bit much.  Walking with Leslie by using several different routines on YouTube have been just what my body needed or as some would say just what the doctor ordered.

Forgetfulness Collapsed!

The surprise benefit after a few weeks was improved short-term memory. Yes, often I’d ask myself – if I took my indapamide, a low grade high blood pressure medication and water diuretic pill that day?  Sometimes it would be only a few minutes after I’d just taken it. Boy, did that frustrate me because I didn’t want to take it twice! Most times I would figure it out, but I didn’t want to sit and think about it. And then, one day I noticed it was easier to remember! That was exciting, and it doesn’t take much these days. LOL.

Drug Free: What a Wonderful World

Another surprise. I was convinced I needed to lose at least thirty more pounds before I could stop taking Indapamide and this was my ultimate goal. I’d already eliminated Glimepiride, a low dosage diabetic medication, when I lost my first thirty pounds. Hallelujah! As I continued my quest to lose weight, I found by simply walking with Leslie, I was no longer retaining water, and my blood pressure was okay too! Down with Indapamide! I am now drug free!

Stepping For Fitness

I gifted myself a fitness watch for Christmas and I’ve been monitoring how many steps I walk most days. I try for at least one-mile which is 3,000 steps. My low per day is 3,000 and my highest is 6,000 to 7,000. Haven’t made it to 10,000 steps which is 5 miles, but it’s coming. I enjoy using the fitness watch because it reminds to move, and then I can congratulate myself when I do!  Fantastic motivator! I try to do things, you know, like taking stairs instead of an elevator, and parking far away from an entrance. Something I find a little more enjoyable is walking from one end of a Target, Wal-Mart or mall, you get the picture, to add a few more steps. Just don’t take your debit card!

And the Results Are:

By moving—just a little bit—walking with Leslie a few times per week, I’ve achieved:

1. Increased short-term memory
2. Eliminated medication (I am now completely drug free and that’s a blessing!)
3. Reduced excess water retention

Over the last several years, two business entities have grown exponentially in Chicago. One is public storage facilities and the other is kidney dialysis centers. Totally unrelated businesses, but they do say much about the mental and physical conditions of Chicago’s residents. People are gathering to themselves way more than they need, and wreaking havoc in their bodies with unhealthy lifestyles.

When Is Enough Too Much?

What exactly are people putting in public storage containers? Okay, there are some practical reasons for its use such as downsizing, temporarily staying in smaller living quarters, and needing a place to store valuables. But what’s in your container?

Folks Just Can’t Let Go of Their Stuff.

They’re emotionally attached to inanimate objects. They’d rather hold on to their stuff, than give it away to charity or even to family members who actually need it. What’s the point? Enlighten me. You just purchased new appliances, but you keep the old ones in case you will need them again? So, you pay $90 a month for a storage unit. It’s been three years! You’ve already purchased new appliances twice!

Get attached to your children, your spouse, your parents, and even your God. But for goodness sake, let go of your stuff. If you haven’t used it in a year, then it’s time to hand it over to someone who can. And let’s not consider the stuff you have in your attic, basement, and garage. When your physical space is cluttered, it says something about your mental space as well. With so much clutter is difficult to make decisions and have control and authority over your life.

Too Much of a Good Thing

Recently, a new dialysis center popped up on 108^th and Halsted on the south side of Chicago. It took over a Walgreen’s building. I noticed these centers are popping up like grocery stores, everywhere. And the only reason for these centers are that folks have either lost the functioning of their kidneys or it’s grossly compromised. So, I am like dang, what’s up with that?

Why are people eating themselves to death? Food is for life. When does a pork chop taste so good that you want to subject your body to exchanging blood three times a week to live? This is not normal and certainly not the way God designed our body to function.

You’ve Got Other Things To Do

The process sounds gross: “It’s a treatment that takes over your kidney functions if those organs stop doing their job. Your blood is put through a filter outside your body, cleaned, and then returned to you. ” This is why yearly physicals are important. You might feel okay, but your blood pressure is wack, and you don’t even know it. Yearly physicals also check kidney function, and if you know you have some messed up habits, all the more reason to have yourself checked out. Don’t be scared! Knowledge is power. Fear DIALYSIS, not the doctor.

Consider This

The rise of public storage facilities and kidney dialysis are indicative of ills that plague society. Things, your stuff and the over consumption of food and unhealthy lifestyles are not what’s important. You and relationships with family, others, and God are what you need to cling to.
